There seems to be a human condition for waiting for the perfect time to do anything.
Consider things like:
- Writing or updating your will because things are in flux and will likely change…
- Fixing that broken fence because the price of lumber is crazy…
- Going to the doctor because I’m sure the pain will go away…
We do this too much in business:
- Creating a business succession plan until we know how the successsion will look…
- Upgrading the technology until things slow down…
- Hiring that new manager until we are really busy…
- Implementing that project until we are all less busy…
Perfect doesn’t exist.
Waiting for perfect isn’t a strategy. It does however come with a high cost of doing nothing. Most good and important things that are put off until the time is “perfect” usually have a reason that they are good and important.
Avoid the painful cost of doing business by waiting for the perfect time. The perfect time is today.
