I have some exciting news to share. I’m officially running for Mayor of Poulsbo in 2025!
It’s a big leap, but one rooted in my passion for serving the community I love.
Now, before you worry: No, I’m not trading in my consulting hat for a gavel and podium full-time. I remain 100% committed to you—my clients, my business, and helping you navigate risks, emergencies, and opportunities.
As you will read in my statement below that was announced on Facebook this morning, Poulsbo is transitioning to a city manager style of government, with the mayor moving to a “part-time” status focusing on leadership, community engagement, and setting the vision for the city moving forward.
This new venture is about extending my commitment to leadership, resilience, and community, just as I always have in my professional life. I’ll still be your go-to person for whatever comes your way.

Dan Weedin Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Poulsbo

Today, I’m excited to officially announce my candidacy for Mayor of Poulsbo in 2025.
For over 30 years, Poulsbo has been more than just my home—it’s been the place where my wife, Barb and I raised our family, built lifelong friendships, and contributed to a vibrant and caring community.
With the city’s move to a part-time mayor structure alongside a professional city manager, this election marks a pivotal moment for Poulsbo. It’s an opportunity to blend professional management with strong, visionary leadership rooted in community values. I’m running for mayor because I believe my skills and experience make me uniquely equipped to serve Poulsbo effectively in this new structure.
As someone who has spent decades leading organizations, advising business owners, and serving as a community volunteer, I know how to collaborate, problem-solve, and make informed decisions. This new role allows me to bring my leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to Poulsbo while continuing my professional career, ensuring I remain connected to the real-world challenges our residents and businesses face every day.
If elected, my focus will be on:
- Safe and Connected Neighborhoods: Ensuring our city remains a safe, welcoming place for every resident and visitor.
- Smart Growth for Our Future: Balancing progress and preservation so Poulsbo thrives without losing its unique charm.
- Strengthening Our Community: Supporting local businesses and schools, enhancing public spaces, and fostering opportunities for all generations. This focus is especially important to me as the “next generation” of Poulsbo residents includes my four grandchildren who call Poulsbo home.
This campaign is about us—the people who make Poulsbo special. I want to hear your ideas, concerns, and vision for our city. Together, we can build a stronger, brighter future for Poulsbo.
