Extra Points – Presidents Day Special

I grew up studying all the Presidents of the United States. I was a bit of a history geek (or maybe more than a bit) and I just loved learning about the men that helped shape our country. In fact, at one point when I was about 10 years old, I memorized them in order. My dad always had be demonstrate to his friends, which now makes me realize I was simply a party trick.

Presidents have come in all different makes and models. We can now say they have come in all different colors. We are still waiting for different genders and that will one day be remedied. But as we look in retrospect to the men that have held office, one thing remains true regardless of your view of them in history. They accepted the call to duty.

In our zeal to be critical and pass judgement on any President throughout our lifetime and even those before us (I’m on my 9th President), we often forget the sacrifice and pressure that comes with the office. We’ve been fortunate as a country that our form of leadership has endured over 2 centuries without fail. Outside of the age old monarchies, this is impressive. Today is a day to honor all Presidents of this great country. Heck, it might be a good idea to visit the internet and take a peak at all of them. I’m not sure I can still rattle them off like I used to. Let me see – Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison….
