We’ve all spent a lot of time talking and worrying about what COVID-19 has done to our lives and businesses. But as with most crises, it can’t take away everything. Now let’s invest time and strategy towards what the virus has NOT taken away, and how you can propel your business forward into successful recovery. This week, I’m sharing three ways to accomplish this. You are encouraged to attend a free webinar by the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance on Thursday where I will be a panelist and discussing these in more depth. To learn more and to register, click here. WYCD (What You Can Do) 1: Livestream. Most of you have watched livestreams, but don’t do them yourself. Every business has the ability to offer value, give guidance, and enhance your brand and reputation through livestreaming.

Livestreaming means video in real-time so others can watch and comment or ask questions. You can use Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn easily. No need to over-prepare. Be genuine, don’t worry about perfection, and offer tremendous value over a brief (5-10 minutes) stream.

What do you talk about? Your value to others! Check out these options depending on your business: Talk about how people can improve their health and fitness from home; how to buy stocks and investments during volatility; how to change the oil in your car; best practices on grooming dogs, cats, or horses; meditation techniques; gardening tips, or how your business actually makes it’s “sausage.” Introduce your employees. Interview your clients and customers virtually. There are no shortages of ideas if you invest time to think.

Weekly Extra Points Facebook Livestream every Monday at 12:45 pm PT on Weedin Unleashed on that week’s topic: Like PageWeekly Shrimp Tank Podcast Instagram Livestream every Wednesday at 12:45 pm PT discussing the show and its guests. Follow us on InstagramWeekly First Underwriters Kitsap Facebook Livestream every Friday at 12:45 pm PT discussing issues around protecting your most valued assets and lifestyle. WYCD 2: Network. You are all figuring out Zoom, Go to Meeting, and other video communications options. My groups haven’t missed a beat. We are still holding group meetings, coffee get-togethers, and other networking functions. Learn the etiquette of being on video. Here’s a tip, don’t have the camera from your laptop pointing up at your face. Nobody wants to be looking up your nose! Heck, grab a bunch of books and prop it up. Make sure your audio and video are clear. Use virtual backgrounds so nobody has to see your messy office (I speak from experience). These networking events should take as much care they would if you were meeting at a restaurant for lunch or coffee.

WYCD 3: Have fun with your business community. At some point, we all need a distraction from the world around us. Death counters on the news become depressing and can be overwhelming after a while. Offer up opportunities for fun. Your community will love it. Allow me to offer two of my own distractions where you are welcome to join in. Both are free, you just need to register: Virtual Sports Trivia Night every Monday at 7 PM PT on Zoom: Register Virtual Happy Hour with a mixologist from High Spirits teaching us a new libation. Bring your own glass; no designated rivers needed. Register You can do the same; find something you think will be fun and invite your community. They will appreciate it.

Be unleashed and be well.
